There are a total of three members who serve with the YWCA’s Social Justice Department—Breonna Scott, Elliot Spillers, and Walter Nolen-Schmidt.

What is your organizations goal at this site?

The goal of the site is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace and justice for all.

What is something exciting that has happened at this site?

Site Supervisor, Rebecca Harkless, was awarded the Humble Hero Award by the Birmingham Mayor’s Division of Youth Services! Also, recruitment for the Anytown Alabama Teen Leadership Summit has begun! Anytown is our summer residential institute where high school students develop leadership skills that they take back to their schools and communities.
