Member Spotlight: Stephanie Richburg, Domestic Violence Services Specialist
Meet Stephanie Richburg, she serves with the Building Communities, Bettering Lives AmeriCorps Program at Our Place.
What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? I was motivated to join AmeriCorps because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of others and gain personal growth and development.
What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? This opportunity allows me to gain confidence as I build a sense of achievement. It also affords me the opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills, and challenge myself while servicing others.
What will your service focus on for the 2017-18 program year? My service focuses on assisting survivors of domestic violence in gaining confidence, self- awareness, and developing a plan of action. This service year also helps them to understand they are not alone and I/we
are here to help them.
What are your plans after AmeriCorps? I plan to continue working with the YWCA servicing others as I obtain my Bachelor’s degree in Community Health and Human Services.
Thank you for your service Stephanie!
