Member Spotlight: Lexus Richardson

Meet Lexus Richardson, she serves with Birmingham Engaging in STEM AmeriCorps-BETA.

What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? What motivated me to join AmeriCorps was the opportunity to work in my field of study, Mathematics. As a Math major, I will be able to apply my skills and express my love for Math through the AmeriCorps' STEM Program.

What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? What I would like to get out of this service opportunity is the experience of giving back to the community through the Birmingham City School system. By doing that, I will enhance the children's knowledge of Math in a fun and engaging way.

What will your service focus on for the 2017-18 program year? For the 2017-2018 program year, my service will focus on creating and implementing hands-on, educational games/activities for my students. I think that education is an important factor in their lives.
