Member Spotlight: Davida Hayden, Instructional Assistant
Meet Davida Hayden. Davida serves with the AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team at W.O. Parmer Elementary.
What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? I was motivated to join AmeriCorps because I knew it would be a grate opportunity to serve and give back to my community. I also was motivated to join because children are our future and I want to be a positive role model in their foundational learning.
What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? I would like to get as much classroom and educational experience out of this service opportunity. Also, I would like to get out as much professional and ethical training from this service opportunity as possible.
What will your service focus on for the 2017-18 program year? my focus for 2017-18 program year will be to provide students in grades K-2 the direct support to improve assessments of literacy and/or math academic standardized tests. I also plan to focus on uplifting those students’ attitudes towards school spirit and their self-esteem.
What are your plans after AmeriCorps? After AmeriCorps, I plan to also finish with my degree in Elementary Education. I would like to smoothly transition into my own classroom and continue to love and educate our children if the future.
