Member Spotlight: Candis Moorer, Instructional Support Team Member

Meet Candis Moorer, she serves with the AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team at Greenville Elementary.

What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? I knew I wanted to make a difference in the lives of youth. I love working with children and I love to help where and when help is needed. I saw what AmeriCorps was all about and what all they do. I knew after my research that it would be a great fit.

What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? Being that my background is mostly in education, I would like to gain as much experience as I can in the education field to make sure I am making the right decision and serve the best I can in the education field.

What will your service focus on for the 2017-18 program year? My service focus will be to provide direct service to economically disadvantaged students to improve performance in literacy or math by pre- and post- standardized tests to improve academic performance.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps? My plans are to finish my degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education and accept a position in my home town so I can give back to my community.
