Member Spotlight: Brittney Kyle, Instructional Aide
Meet Brittney Kyle, she serves with the AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team at the Georgiana School.
What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? Having already done 3 years of AmeriCorps service, I desired to see a group of students I worked with through to graduation. My motivation the first year I began serving was to become familiar with the new city I had just moved to.
What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? I wanted to see where outside entities could bolster our education system and strengthen our communities. Once seen, I will involve those entities and see where I shall continue after my service has ended.
What will your service focus on for the 2017-18 program year? My service shall focus on providing support to economically disadvantaged children in grades Pre-K through 12th grade in improving literacy, and understanding service. We will use pre-and post- standardized tests to demonstrate improvement in academic performance.
What are your plans after AmeriCorps? I plan on continuing community involvement while finishing my degree in Engineering. Once I have completed my degree, I will be running a business in technology and computer networking. I want to use that as a work-study opportunity for students showing inclination and interest.
Thank you for your service Brittney!
