Member Spotlight: Bridget Mitchell, Instructional Aide
Meet Bridget Mitchell, she serves with the AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team at Greenville Middle School.
What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? I want to help make a difference in a child’s life. If nothing else, a smile to help them through their day. The little things make a bigger difference that you can imagine.
What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? I want to gain experience working with youth because I’m considering going back to school for teaching. This will give me the knowledge I need to make my decision.
What will your service focus on for the 2017-18 program year? Provide direct support to economically disadvantaged students, grades 5th-8th, in order to improve performance in literacy and/or math as measured by pre- and post- standardized tests to demonstrate improved academic performance.
What are your plans after AmeriCorps? I hope to start a career in the teaching field. My experience with AmeriCorps will help guide my decision.
Thank you for your service Bridget!
