Member Spotlight: Angelica Howard, SWAMP AmeriCorps member
Meet Angelica Howard, serving with Mobile Baykeeper as part of SWAMP (Strategic Watershed Awareness and Monitoring Program).
What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? I was motivated to join AmeriCorps due to the amazing opportunity to work with Mobile Baykeeper. Another very exciting component to joining were the benefits and opportunities offered to further my education.
What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? I am looking forward to enhancing my skills as an educator and community leader. I also look forward to the opportunity to build my community network. Most importantly my service as an AmeriCorps member facilitates an opportunity for me to impact the environment of the community that I was born and raised in; also the place that I love and advocate for.
What will your service focus on for the 2017-18 program year? My service focus for the 2017-2018 program year will mainly be tailored to enhancing the curriculum dedicated to educating the students and the Mobile, AL community. I look forward to working one on one with students in the classroom and the community at important Baykeeper service events.
What are your plans after AmeriCorps? I intend to launch my own business in consulting and production. I feel security in the notion that the skills, network, and insight gained through the AmeriCorps program will aid me in my pursuit of entrepreneurial success.
Thank you for your service Angelica!
