Member Spotlight: Elinor Mallon, Baykeeper Patroller
Meet Elinor Mallon, serving with Mobile Baykeeper as part of Baykeeper Patrol program.
What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? I wanted to join AmeriCorps in order to be a part of an organization that has a positive impact on the community I live in.
What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? From this service opportunity, I hope to continue to expand my knowledge of environmental issues in coastal areas. I also hope to make lasting connections with people in Mobile and surrounding cities.
What will your service focus on for the 2017-18 program year? My service will focus on patrolling and monitoring areas within the mobile bay watershed for environmental issues. This will contribute to Mobile Baykeeper’s goal of ensuring clean water, clean air, and healthy communities.
What are your plans after AmeriCorps? After AmeriCorps, I will have recently graduated from undergrad. I am taking a year off from school before going to grad school to study Marine Conservational Ecology. During that year I hope to continue to work in the environmental field somewhere in the Pacific Northwest.
Thank you for your service Elinor!
