Member Spotlight: DiaNeshia Thomas, ANFRC AmeriCorps member

Meet DiaNeshia Thomas, serving with the Alabama Network of Family Resource Centers AmeriCorps program at Tuscaloosa’s One Place.

What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? I am a social work major and I have always had the desire to give back. Helping others is a goal and a purpose of mine and AmeriCorps seemed like the perfect fit for me.

What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? I would like to gain experience in working with children, my focus for my masters will be children as of now and this will aid me in making my final decision.

What will your service focus on for the 2017-18 program year? my service focus will be in education for the 2017-18 program year. I will be placed in Holt Elementary with the H.O.P.E. program.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps? To find employment in the social work field after completing my degree at the University of Alabama.
