Member Spotlight: Cordarius Longmire, AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team Member
Meet Cordarius Longmire, currently serving at Greenville High School, in the AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team.
1. What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? I was in search of purpose in my community. I knew that I wanted to teach and be a positive influence on the lives of the youth in my community. With that, AmeriCorps became a very clear option for me.
2. What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? I would like to get teaching experience out of this opportunity. Also, understanding how to effectively manage a class and to help students.
3. What will your service focus on for the 2019-2020 program year? I will be providing direct support to economically disadvantaged students in order to improve performance in core academic subjects as measured by pre-and post-standardized tests to demonstrate improved academic performance.
4. What are your plans after AmeriCorps? I plan to have my Bachelors in Psychology and English. I want to have my own classroom at Greenville High School as a teacher.
