Member Spotlight: Shantara Reed, AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team Member

Meet Shantara Reed, currently serving at Georgiana School, in the AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team.

1. What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? I was a substitute teacher in Butler County. I love the children and the faculty.

2. What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? I want a better understanding of the school system. I also want to help the teachers while motivating the children in educational system.

3. What will your service focus on for the 2019-2020 program year? I will be providing direct support to economically disadvantaged students in order to improve performance in literacy and/or math as measured by pre- and post-standardized tests to demonstrate improved academic performance.

4. What are your plans after AmeriCorps? I want to substitute teach full-time. I also plan to go back to school one day.
