Member Spotlight: Brittany Jenkins, Teach For America-AL Member
Meet Brittany Jenkins, 9th and 10th Grade Math and Science Teacher, currently serving with Robert C Hatch High School, a service site of the Teach For America-AL AmeriCorps program.
1. What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? I believe in the mission of TFA-AL, that AmeriCorps provides, that one day all children will have the opportunity to have receive an excellent education. I wanted to be a voice and be in the process of helping children to reach their goals. Service is sovereignty and devoting myself to the cause of helping children will not only satisfy me but will help all children excel because they are the future.
2. What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? I would like to see growth in my students and offer them a pathway to success.
3. What will your service focus on for the 2019-20 program year? During this program year, my service will focus on maximizing student achievement by having them grow 3 points on the ACT.
4. What are your plans after AmeriCorps? I plan to continue teaching in the classroom for one more year and then I plan to get a Masters in School Counseling.
Thank you for your service, Brittany!
