Member Spotlight: Denise Alexander, Selma AmeriCorps Program Member
Meet Denise Alexander, Half Time Member, currently serving with Meadowview Elementary School, a service site of the Selma AmeriCorps program.
1. What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? I was motivated to join AmeriCorps because I felt it would be a great opportunity to meet people, do community service, help others, get training and receive educational money.
2. What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? I would like to know that I have helped the students with their education. I want to be able to meet others in the community while enhancing my community involvement.
3. What will your service focus on for the 2019-2020 program year? During this program year, my service will focus on tutoring K-12 success. My goal is to help students improve academically while helping in community service.
4. What are your plans after AmeriCorps? After AmeriCorps, I plan to continue community service. I will use my educational award to go to college to get a business degree and, one day, run my own business.
Thank you for your service, Denise!
