Member Spotlight: Anisha Ellis, Selma AmeriCorps Program Member

Meet Anisha Ellis, Half Time Member, currently serving with Wallace Community College Selma, a service site of the Selma AmeriCorps Program.

1. What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? I was motivated to join AmeriCorps because I love working with children and helping the community. I also joined because of the educational award so I can further with my education.

2. What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? What I would like to get out of this service opportunity is helping a student be a better student than the year before. I’m focused on helping them in literacy and math.

3. What will your service focus on for the 2019-20 program year? During this program year, my service will focus on first and second grade students. My focus will be effectively getting them ready for the 3rd grade.

4. What are your plans after AmeriCorps? My plan after AmeriCorps is to start my own business. I’m working on furthering my education in Business Administration.
