Member Spotlight: Ashalya Hayes, Teach for America Alabama AmeriCorps Program

Meet Ashalya Hayes, Elementary School Teacher, currently serving with Barrett Elementary School, a service site of the Teach for America Alabama AmeriCorps program.

1. What motivated you to join AmeriCorps?

I was motivated to join AmeriCorps because I believe that every child deserves a quality education.

2. What would you like to get out of this service opportunity?

I want to teach my students and learn along the way new skills for myself.

3. What will your service focus on for the 2021-2022 program year?

During this program year, my service will focus on doing more things in my school community.

4. What are your plans after AmeriCorps?

I plan to obtain my Master's degree and attend law school.
