Member Spotlight: Bailey Pilcher, Impact America AmeriCorps Program
Meet Bailey Pilcher, AmeriCorps Team Member, currently serving with Impact America, a partnering agency of the State & National AmeriCorps program.
1. What motivated you to join AmeriCorps?
I was motivated to join AmeriCorps because I saw it as an opportunity to prepare me for future careers and service opportunities. Impact helps me be able to engage with communities around me.
2. What would you like to get out of this service opportunity?
I want to develop myself professionally in an environment non capitalistically driven. Addressing the effects of poverty in my state will be educational and inspire me to help other communities in various ways.
3. What will your service focus on for the 2021-2022 program year? During this program year, my service will focus on the FocusFirst and SaveFirst initiatives of Impact America. These initiatives address some problems of poverty through Health-focused and Finance-focused services.
4. What are your plans after AmeriCorps?
After my time with AmeriCorps, I will likely pursue a Master's Degree in Fine Arts for writing or visual arts. I want to use my experiences gained serving in local communities to address social issues – especially that of poverty – through my art.
Thank you for your service Bailey!
