Member Spotlight: Cynthia Harrison, Selma Alabama AmeriCorps Program

Meet Cynthia Harrison, Tutor, currently serving with the Valley Creek Community Center, a service site of the Selma AmeriCorps program.

1. What motivated you to join AmeriCorps?  I was motivated to join AmeriCorps because of my need to help others and be a positive asset in the community.

2. What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? 

During this year of service, I plan to become more visible in the community through outreach, volunteering, and community service. Also, I want to reach more students to assist them with meeting their full potential.

3. What will your service focus on for the 2021-2022 program year? 

During this program year, my service will focus on tutoring students K-12 to get them at or above grade level. I plan to do more mentoring, assuring that the students have a positive role model.

4. What are your plans after AmeriCorps?  

After AmeriCorps, I plan to continue to assist and help others in the community.
