Member Spotlight: LaTonya Johnson, AmeriCorps Instructional Support Teams
Meet LaTonya Johnson, AIST Member, currently serving with Bright Beginnings, a service site of the AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team AmeriCorps program.
AIST members assist students in pre-school - 12th grade in all Butler County Schools (McKenzie, Georgiana & Greenville). AIST partners with community projects & participates in National Service Days throughout the year.
What inspired you to serve as an AmeriCorps member? I was inspired to serve as an AmeriCorps member because I love working with children, and AmeriCorps allows me to be on the same schedule as my own children and further help their learning goals.
What are your plans after AmeriCorps? I am currently in nursing school and plan to continue my education to become a nurse.
LaTonya Johnson is currently serving her fourth term of service at Bright Beginnings Pre-K at W.O. Parmer Elementary. She graduated from Greenville High in 2002, has completed the WorkKeys Assessment, has three children, works at a part-time job, and attends college. She recently made the Chancellor's List in recognition of her excellent academic performance.
