Member Spotlight: Mallory Pope, Educate Alabama AmeriCorps Program
Meet Mallory Pope, Enrichment Educator, currently serving with SAFE, a service site of the Educate Alabama AmeriCorps Program.
1. What motivated you to join AmeriCorps?
I was motivated to join AmeriCorps because I was a part of the Bridges after-school program as a kid. I enjoyed how helpful the teachers were to me. Furthermore, I wanted to do the same thing in the future for another child.
2. What would you like to get out of this service opportunity?
I want to expand my communication skills and get more hands-on experience to pursue a career in Education. Also, I want to help my community.
3. What will your service focus on for the 2021-2022 program year?
My service will focus on tutoring and mentoring kids in the Bridges after-school program. I want them to be at their best and push them in the right direction.
4. What are your plans after AmeriCorps?
After AmeriCorps, I plan to continue taking courses in Education and start researching colleges to attend for Childhood Education, so I can begin my journey in one day becoming a teacher.
Thank you for your service Mallory!
