Member Spotlight: Shakayla Lee, AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team Member

Meet Shakayla Lee, AIST Member, currently serving with W.O. Parmer Elementary, a service site of the AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team AmeriCorps program.

AIST members assist students in pre-school - 12th grade in all Butler County Schools (McKenzie, Georgiana & Greenville). AIST partners with community projects & participates in National Service Days throughout the year.

What inspired you to serve as an AmeriCorps member? Becoming an AmeriCorps member with AIST allows me to work with children and find new ways to help them learn. 

What are your plans after AmeriCorps? After AmeriCorps, I plan to go back to school to get my education degree in early childhood education. 

Shakayla Lee is currently serving her first term of service at Greenville Elementary School. She graduated from Greenville High in 2022 and has completed the WorkKeys Assessment. She plans to re-apply for the 2024-2025 AIST program year.
