Member Spotlight: Tamara Patterson, AIST Alabama AmeriCorps Program

Meet Tamara Patterson, AIST Member, currently serving with the Georgian School, a service site of the AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team AmeriCorps program.

1. What motivated you to join AmeriCorps?

I was motivated to join AmeriCorps because I wanted to impact children and their educational goals.

2. What would you like to get out of this service opportunity?

I want the experience of facilitating and teaching young children.

3. What will your service focus on for the 2021-2022 program year?

My service will engage students in one-on-one and instructional assistance to help students meet or exceed individual developmental growth targets resulting in an increase (5% gain) in standardized test scores in reading and or/math.

4. What are your plans after AmeriCorps?

After AmeriCorps, I plan to further my education in Early Child Care Development.
