Member Spotlight: Valerie Hunter, Selma Alabama AmeriCorps Program

Meet Valerie, Tutor, currently serving with the Valley Creek Center, a service site of the Selma AmeriCorps Program.

1. What motivated you to join AmeriCorps?

As a fourth-year AmeriCorps member, the children and my want to provide meaningful service to the school motivated me to continue serving with AmeriCorps.

2. What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? 

I want to gain more experience with Selma City Schools and experience serving multiple K-12 grade levels. 

3. What will your service focus on for the 2021-2022 program year? 

During this service year, I will focus on gaining more technical knowledge using various platforms. In doing so, I will be able to teach the children that I serve.

4. What are your plans after AmeriCorps? 

After AmeriCorps, I will complete my final term and possibly continue my education. If not, I will retire and travel!
